After replacing a failed HDD, I need to enter BIOS to run a partitioning utility. I am stuck, because the usual "Press Escape to enter BIOS" (or whatever the message is) does not appear, so whatever I do I cant get into my BIOS.

The machine boots into Win 10 fine

There was no prompt to press Escape, only the HP logo.

Pressing Esc did nothing.

However, since now upgrading from Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro, the prompt has re-appeared for some inexplicable reason

Problem gone away, thanks for your help!

On the newer models, start tapping Esc as soon as the start button is pressed.  If tapping is not started immediately or even slightly before pressing the start button, it will just boot normally.  Doing that action should then bring up a menu where enerting the BIOS is one of the options.
