Hi @CaroleJB,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it can be when web pages don’t load properly due to ads or freezing content. We’d like to clarify expectations and help you check whether this behavior is related to your HP PC or to the website itself.

Setting the right expectation

Issues with ads freezing or blocking content on websites such as MSN are most commonly related to:

  • The web browser or its extensions
  • Cached data or cookies
  • Website-side ad scripts
  • Network or DNS behavior

This is not typically caused by the HP computer hardware itself. However, we can certainly help you verify that your HP PC is working as expected and rule out system-related causes.

Steps to check on your HP PC

Please try the following in order:

  1. Try a different browser
    • If you are using Microsoft Edge, try Chrome or Firefox (or vice versa).
    • This helps confirm whether the issue is browser-specific.

  2. Clear browser cache and cookies
    • Open browser settings
    • Clear cached images/files and cookies
    • Restart the browser and try MSN again

  3. Disable extensions temporarily
    • Ad blockers, script blockers, or security extensions can cause pages to freeze.
    • Disable extensions one by one and test the site.

  4. Check system performance
    • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
    • Check CPU and memory usage while loading MSN
    • If usage is normal, the system is functioning correctly.

  5. Update the browser and Windows
    • Ensure your browser is fully up to date
    • Run Windows Update to install the latest patches and performance fixes.

  6. Test on another network or device
    • If MSN works normally on another device or network, the issue is likely browser or network-related rather than an HP PC issue.

If the issue persists

If you notice freezing across multiple websites, slow system performance, or browser crashes in general, please let us know. In that case, we can help you run basic diagnostics on your HP PC to rule out software or system issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
