I have a corrupted hard drive and cant boot from DVD and keeps trying to boot from hard drive. Changed boot sequence to DVD drive 1st, but it goes blank when attempting boot, CD drive spins, then stops and then trys to boot from HD. Tried booting from a USB but in boot options I only see options to boot from a CD drive or HD. No USB option. Made the dvd iso from microsofts program, and fit in 4.7 dvd, as other installs didnt fit on single layer disk. Im stuck and dont know how to do a clean install. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I solved it. I had to keep pressing space bar after boot sequence and it booted from USB and DVD. Not sure how but the USB I used to make Creation tool AND th DVD were lighting up and the installation program ran. Thank you.

Hi:

When you turn on the PC, press the F9 key immediately afterward to get the boot options menu.

Select the F9 boot options menu and from that select the DVD drive and press the enter key.

See if you can boot from the DVD drive that way.

Did you test that the DVD you made boots up on another PC?

You can cancel out of the installation when you get to the Install Now screen.

It installation disk created by creation tool boots from another computer. It takes about a min or 2 before the Windows 10 Installation window appears, but it works. When I try installation disk in the HP dv4, it seems to attempt to boot from DVD but it doesnt wait the sufficent time and then attempts to boot from the HD. There is no option in BIOS boot menu for USB drive. Only Dvd or HD.

Is there a way to install on a new HD a OS via another desktop and then insert that HD into the laptop?
