HP ZBook Studio 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC (46N52AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been trying to install the latest updates for windows 11 on  my Zbook but it wont install.  I noticed a lot of threads mentioning the EFI folder being full but mine is 100 meg and have 100% free so I dont know why it wont allow me to install it.

Is there a BIOS update that is needed?

Hi @ukracer ,

If you're having trouble installing the latest Windows 11 updates on your HP ZBook Studio 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation, even though your EFI folder has space, there might be other factors affecting the update process. Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the issue and check for any necessary BIOS updates:

  1. Check for BIOS Updates:

    • A BIOS update might resolve compatibility issues with Windows updates. Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page, enter your product model (HP ZBook Studio 15.6 inch G8), and check for the latest BIOS updates. Follow the instructions provided to update your BIOS.
  2. Windows Update Troubleshooter:

    • Use the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot," then select "Additional troubleshooters" and run the "Windows Update" troubleshooter.
  3. Disk Space and Storage Health:

    • Ensure there is sufficient space on your system drive (C:). Open "Settings" > "System" > "Storage" to examine disk space usage and free up space if necessary.
  4. Check System Health:

    • Run a system file check by opening Command Prompt as an administrator and executing:
      sfc /scannow

    • This command will scan and repair missing or corrupted system files.
  5. Reset Windows Update Components:

    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands to reset Windows Update components:
      net stop wuauserv
      net stop cryptSvc
      net stop bits
      net stop msiserver
      ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
      ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
      net start wuauserv
      net start cryptSvc
      net start bits
      net start msiserver

  6. Manually Install Updates:

  7. Driver Conflicts:

    • Ensure all drivers are up to date, especially hardware drivers related to storage and chipset. The HP Support Assistant can help automate this process.

Hope this helps solve your issue
