My daughter bought a new laptop last week, she spilled water on it 2 days ago, now (after drying as carefully as possible) it just shows a flashing Caps Lock key - 5 slower flashes followed by 3 quick flashes. I'm wondering a) what this means, b) whether she is best to claim through household insurance (£100 excess on £250 laptop) or try a repair (which could possibly be more expensive)?

HI,
5.3 flashes means a system board failure.
After a water spill you will need to take it tou shop and if the system bosrd needs to be replaced it is probably just better to cash in on the insurance towards a new notebook.

Hope it helps,
