Battery is not charging. Plug in an AC adaptor, press the power button. The charging button blinks white. I've tried multiple AC adaptors. Computer does not power on. Ran battery calibration tests. Battery reported that it was fine. Power supply check said the AC charger was missing.

Hi @HappyCamper537,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you described suggests a power delivery or internal hardware fault, despite the battery calibration test indicating it's fine. Here's a structured approach to diagnose and resolve the problem.

Power Supply and Adapter Check

  • Test a Known-Good Adapter: Since you've already tried multiple AC adapters, confirm they meet the HP laptop’s power requirements.
  • Check Adapter Port: Ensure the laptop’s power port is clean and free of dust or debris. A loose or damaged power jack can cause charging issues.
  • Inspect LED Behavior:
    • A blinking white light usually indicates the battery is not charging properly.
    • When plugged in, the light should turn steady if the battery is charging.

Battery Check

  • If the battery calibration test reported the battery as fine:
    • Disconnect the battery (if removable) and try powering the laptop with just the AC adapter.
    • If the laptop powers on, the battery might have an intermittent issue despite the test results. Consider replacing it.

Hard Reset

Perform a reset to clear residual charge that may be affecting power:

  1. Disconnect all external devices, including the AC adapter.
  2. Remove the battery (if possible).
  3. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the adapter (without the battery) and attempt to power on.

Perform a CMOS Reset

If the issue persists:

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery.
  2. Open the back panel and carefully remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes.
    • This will reset the laptop's BIOS to default settings.
  3. Reinsert the CMOS battery and reconnect the main battery and AC adapter.

Internal Hardware Diagnostics

If the AC adapter test says it’s missing:

  • Test with HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • If you have access to the HP Diagnostics USB drive or the UEFI diagnostic tools pre-installed, run detailed tests for the power components.
  • Inspect Power Circuitry:
    • A fault in the motherboard's power delivery components (e.g., DC-in jack or power IC) could prevent charging.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
