Chrome Os missing or damaged

Recovery effort unsuccessful on chromebook despite several attempts.  My screen went black while in use and got the message Chrome Os missing or damaged. So I created a recovery media on a USB. Tried several times and it keeps giving me..."An unexpected error has occurred. Please refer to this URL for  troubleshooting tips.  www.google.com/chromebook/recovery.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
