My chromebook is 3 years old and now doesn't charge. The light remains red when charger is plugged in. Tried to reset. Is this common and can I fix or do I need a new device

I understand you are getting facing a power-related issue on your HP Chromebook - 14-Ca000na. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a hard reset:
- Power off the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop and check.
