I have been trying to get into developer mode for a while and everytime it's the same thing. I do the steps: ESC, refresh, power,
ctrl-D, Enter, beeps and transition. When I am going into transition at the top instead of a count down it says "
"[0409/163409.849450:ERROR:process.cc(329)] Exec of usr/bin/pv failed: : Inout/Output error" Please help me with this.

@JasonHinton Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the Chromebook won't go into dev mode.
Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.
Please perform the Factory reset your Chromebook
- Sign out of your Chromebook.
- Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
- Select Restart.
- In the box that appears, select Powerwash
Continue.
- Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account. - Once you've reset your Chromebook:
- Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your Chromebook
- Check if the problem is fixed
If you still have the same issue, perform the recovery.
Important: Recovery permanently erases everything on your Chromebook's hard drive, including your downloaded files. If possible, back up your files before you recover your Chromebook.
