Good morning all. I have an x360 chromebook that worked fine until we changed a tmobile router to a newer model. The laptop won't allow sign-in now with out a **bleep** account password and it won't recognize that password. It's my dad's laptop and I've added myself as a user but all his doctors info is with the established password that we can't get to. Is there a setting to change to drop the **bleep** requirement?

Hi @JC334,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the Chromebook is asking for the Google account password associated with the device. If your dad's Chromebook is set up to use a Google account for sign-in, you'll need the password for that Google account to access the device.
Here are a few steps you can try.
1. Double-Check the Google Account Password:
- Make sure you're entering the correct Google account password. Sometimes, a simple typo can cause login issues.
2. Password Recovery:
- If the password is forgotten, you can attempt to recover it. On another device, like a smartphone or computer:
- Go to the Google Account Recovery page (https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery).
- Enter the email address associated with the Chromebook.
- Follow the steps to verify identity and reset the password.
3. Factory Reset (Last Resort):
- If you're unable to recover the password, a factory reset is an option. This will erase all data on the Chromebook.
- Important: This will delete all local data on the Chromebook, so make sure to back up any important files if possible.
- Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r on the sign-in screen.
- Click "Restart."
- When the "Powerwash" box appears, click "Powerwash" and then "Continue."
If you've added yourself as a user on the Chromebook, you might be able to access the files from your user account, but certain settings and files may be restricted to the original account that was used to set up the Chromebook.
If you're able to sign in to your user account:
- Go to "Settings" > "People" (under "Accounts") > click on the "Sync" button next to the Google Account.
- This may sync some of the data from the original account to your user account, but certain data like browser history, saved passwords, and app settings may not sync.
Always make sure to keep important passwords and recovery information in a safe place for future reference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
