HI.
I have a brand new X360 windows 10 elite book 1030 machine.
Comes installed with windows and a raft of other applications i have no need of. I want to do a proper clean windows 10 install and only install the addtional HP apps im after. Workwise, jumpstart are not required.
Can you please provide instructions on how to achieve this. If i use the microsoft reset functions the HP apps are still installed. If i do a OS recovery its also got HP apps.
Please provide steps on how to do a clean install.
Thanks

In the same window where you choose Reset or Recovery- scroll down and look under "More recovery options"- click on "Learn how to start fresh with a clean installation".
===================================
If you want a truly clean slate-your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows . Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive.Big advantage is you will have latest updated version of Windows 10. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
-------------------------------
When the flash drive is prepared insert it in a usb port. Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. Tap Enter key.
When installing and you go through first few screens- choose Custom and select each partition and delete each (if you have more than one).Install on the unallocated space left from that process.Continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.
This will not include the original software/drivers from HP but any of it can be installed from your Support page. It might be wise to download at least network drivers before clean install.

Have you tried F11 at power on? This guide shows it- but instead of System Recovery or Reset I believe a Refresh will do what you are wanting.

Recovery = full restore of Original pc image with hp software as per new machine
Refresh = a quick update, doesn’t remove files etc
Reset = reinstall windows but fir some reason does the same as recovery . Hp is intercepting the windows install process to install their apps. Not what I’m after

Yes, you can do it that way,. Or- use this instead. Go to All settings.Update and Security. Click Recovery in left sidebar. In the same window where you choose Reset or Recovery- scroll down and look under "More recovery options"- click on "Learn how to start fresh with a clean installation".
