I am a 40 Year Unix veteran. I am trying to help a friend who purchased this laptop from it's previous owner. I need to do a clean install of Windows 10 from the .ISO file that the HP website provides for it. The install process asks for missing drivers. I downloaded all the .exe files from the HP website and extracted them into separate directories. I then spent hours installing all the drivers via the .inf files. It is still asking for more drivers. Can someone please tell me how to get this "Windows 10" installed. I am not charging my friend for this work, but this is starting to be a bit much.

Is the laptop working OK but you can't get into Windows because you don't have the password?
If so, with a little work, there is a way to make a bootable USB stick that will run a version of Windows on the laptop and from there, you can use a command to do a backup of all the HP drivers to a folder on a USB stick, then after you install the new Windows version, you can restore those drivers from the same USB stick.
If you want to go down this road, let me know.

When you have issues with missing media drivers and whatnot, and you should not be getting errors like that with the hardware that notebook comes with, I recommend that you make a USB recovery drive with the HP cloud recovery tool, which will create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

If you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
