Hello. I wanna factory reset my laptop to the factory image. And I saw a reply by Paul which clarified that because my laptop is more than 5 years old, then my product id is seen as invalid by the hp recovery tool. What other way is there that I can do, to perform a full factory reset of everything within this laptop

See if you can order a recovery kit for the notebook from this vendor at the link below:

Hey Paul. Thanks

Unfortunately I am unable to get a physical kit. I'm looking for a way to download the factory recovery image. If you could help me I would appreciate it. My bios is corrupted and I need to factory reset because I've tried everything.

You're very welcome.

It doesn't sound to me like you need a factory Windows OS recovery kit if the BIOS is corrupted.

I believe you need to make a BIOS recovery drive (if possible) and in order to see if you can make one of those, I will need to know the full model number or product number of your notebook.

Hey Paul

My laptop is hp envy x360 13-ar0017au

The thing is, I wanted to update the bios, and in the process, there was kind of a failure, which I think affected the power management part of the computer, probably at a firmware level. Because even after installing different drivers, reinstalling the windows from a bootable usb and deleting all portions and doing all these stuff, the problem of the little click sound and the no shut down remains. Which makes me guess it is at a bios/firmware level. And this is the error I got at that time and after that these problems appeared.

I would appreciate if you could help me with solving the problem

Hi:

The only thing I would be able to help you with would be to give you the link to the latest BIOS update HP has for your notebook and the video instructions for how to update/recover the BIOS when you can't get into Windows.

Below is the link to the latest BIOS update from your notebook's support page:

HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0017au Software and Driver Details

Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC if yours is not working.

How to make and use the BIOS recovery flash drive to recover or update the BIOS outside of Windows.

Creating a BIOS Recovery Flash Drive for HP Notebooks | HP Notebooks | HP Support

How to recover/update your notebook's BIOS with the USB recovery drive:

As far as a HP recovery image for your notebook, that is no longer available from anywhere.

The computer surgeons link I posted the other day is only good for HP PCs sold for use In Canada and the United States.

Thank you.

But I already did all of this and the problem remains. I know it is from the power management at a firmware level. Because I have updated bios already including with a flash drive.

That is why I am here otherwise the problem would be solved.

You're very welcome

Unfortunately I wouldn't have any idea how to fix the problem, and I suggest that you start a new discussion detailing the problem (you can copy) and paste most of the details you posted here and what you have already done such as updating the BIOS, and give it a new title, because getting a recovery image for your notebook is not an option.
