My Compaq-HP Laptop started giving trouble last year during Lockdown (June 2020) & did not start even when kept on charging. I got it checked it with the local Laptop Technicians in Meerut (Uttar Pradesh, India). They said the battery is faulty & could not give any proper solution but said that the Laptop is quite old (Model: Compaq - HP 6720s; Year: 2008) so the parts are not easily available. Since the laptop was not working I bought a new Desktop in July 2020 & had connected the Laptop Hard Disk with the new Desktop to access the documents kept in it. It functioned as an External Hard Disk for a couple of days but later started showing an error due to which I could not access it. As per the Technicians, it is corrupted now & it's not easy to recover the data.
The Hard Disk is kept separately since then but I wish to get the Laptop repaired and also want to access the documents kept in it.
Request your valuable advice, suggestions or references.
Thanks in advance.

All important files should be backed up in multiple places at all times because any storage device can fail at any time; important files should be treated as if they are important files.
If you can't get the drive to be read at all, the only solution is a professional data recovery firm. And depending on what's wrong, this can be very expensive. When it comes to data protection, an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

Thanks a lot Sir for answering my question. I agree with you completely and also used to take back-up of my important data & files in Google Drive regularly. But when my Laptop developed this problem, it was all of a sudden & I could not understand the reason for such issue. Some of the more recent data & files were not backed up unfortunately. One Laptop Technician told that its due to the faulty laptop battery which I had purchased few months back & it was in warranty period as well. Hence, he sent my battery for replacement but another technician told that its due to faulty monitor which cannot be repaired as the parts are not available. Another technician kept my laptop for a few days but could not repair it and finally gave it back. Now, I feel the need for an independent system hence looking for some option to get it repaired at the earliest.
Pls suggest if it's possible to get the laptop repaired. I can buy a new battery & hard disk to keep it in running condition. Thanks a lot.
