Tried Contacting HP on Live chat but their system doesnt recognoise my laptop even though the rest of the site does.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ61 - 110SA. it's an old laptop but i've kept it in good condition and upgraded various parts in order to keep it working well and it does.
I ran the Windows 10 compatability and it passed easily so i bought Windows 10 and installed it. Everything works fine except it no longer recognoises USB memory sticks or Hard drives; they worked find under Windows 7 and work fine on other laptops or consoles i plug them in just not this laptop on wIndows 10.
After a long chat with windows tech support and many attempts by them to solve the problem it was determined that the drivers installed arent compatible with windows 10 amazingly.
My question is has anybody else came across this problem and/or does anybody know of any drivers that will rectify this issue.
Thank you,
Darren

Hi, @DazzV1
Unfortunately, many notebooks pass the compatibility test but HP released a document regarding what models they will support for W10 and its subsequent updates.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05195282
Basically, any HP PC made prior to August of 2013 is not supported or tested by HP for W10.
There are no product specs for your model, but I assume it has an Intel processor and chipset based on the driver page.
W10 installs some very old and generic drivers believe it or not, on older PC's.
So, the only suggestion I can offer would be to install the latest Intel Chipset driver for your model (which happens to be for W7). Restart the PC after installing, and see if that gets the USB ports to work again.
I have an equivalent HP business notebook with the same chipset and processor series, and the USB ports work fine on my notebook. I did install the W7 chipset driver.
What I don't know is if the USB ports didn't work prior to installing it. I do remember it installing updated USB controller drivers.
Download, unzip and run the setup application from the driver at the link below.
