Compaq Presario CQ60-600 Notebook PC series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After years of use, my CQ-60 stopped working.  I am trying to reinstall windows 7 from a genuine disk. However, the install process is requesting

"Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation".

I have seen the driver

Compaq cq-60 615-dx - disk controller driver - dissp44976

also I see

Compaq CQ-60 615-dx - Card Reader Driver - but looks like same number as disk controller driver - sp44976

Could someone please clarify the direction to take to complete the install of Windows 7. If possible, can someone supply a zip file of drivers, etc to expedite the process?

The vendor of the recovery disk ( which is also the source of the Windows 7 iso) has told me that upon a reinstall of windows 7, the contents of my hard drive will go to a Windows.old folder.

However, I am hung up at this initial driver stage.

I have tried system restore and startup repairs, however no fixes have been successful.

Thanks

Hi:

W7 should not be needing any drivers to install on that old of a PC.

In any event, I have zipped up and attached below, the sata drivers necessary for Windows 7 to 'see' the hard drive.

Unzip the file to its folder.  Copy the file contents of that folder to a USB flash drive.

With the USB flash drive plugged in, but from the W7 DVD.

After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.

You should now see the Storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it should only include the compatible driver.

If that doesn't work, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Usually when you get that message on a PC that shouldn't need storage drivers, the disk is no good anymore.
