Microsoft Windows XP

My laptop is getting restarted in the bios page , its not even goes to next step . I am able to see only "PRESS ESC to change boot order "  & "Press F10 to enter setup" . Tried inserting xp bootable CD but its loading CD or OS from hard disk , changed boot order as well . Searched BIOS update in HP site but no luck . Current bios version is F.23

@Jaiania

If your PC really is still using the same drive it did from the XP days, then my guess is that the drive is failing when the PC ties to get past the Power On Self Test (POST) phase into booting Windows, and then it is restarting.

To check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu -- that will look similar to the image below ...
HP Startup Menu.jpg
3) press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

Thanks for your suggestion but already checked the disk status and it was good . There is an option in bios for disk check .
