I opened my computer to a frozen update screen. Every time I reboot it, it shows the cmos code 502. I don’t have money to buy new parts. Thank you

Hi @Nash2112,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The CMOS error code 502 typically indicates that the system encountered a problem with the BIOS or CMOS settings. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue without replacing parts.
Reset the CMOS/BIOS Settings:
- Power off your laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter.
- Power on the laptop, and the CMOS should reset.
Access BIOS and Restore Default Settings:
- On startup, press F10 to enter the BIOS.
- Look for an option to "Restore Default Settings" or "Load Optimized Defaults".
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS to see if the system can boot normally.
Hard Reset the Laptop:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the charger and any external devices (mouse, keyboard, etc.).
- Hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power and try turning the laptop back on.
Update the BIOS:
- If the laptop boots into Windows or can enter BIOS, consider updating the BIOS to the latest version. You can download the latest BIOS for your Victus laptop from the HP support website.
- Follow the instructions carefully to avoid further issues during the update.
Remove and Reseat RAM (If Possible):
- Power off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and open the back panel.
- Carefully remove and reseat the RAM module(s) to ensure they are properly connected.
Attempt Safe Mode Boot:
- If the system is boot looping, try booting into Safe Mode by pressing F8 repeatedly during startup and selecting "Safe Mode."
- If Safe Mode loads, you can attempt a system restore to a previous working state or troubleshoot any updates that may have caused the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
