Hi @Ossie17,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 14s computer is slowing down to the point where you receive a message asking if you want to wait for a page to open, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue.

  • Check Your Internet Connection: Slow loading of web pages can be related to your internet connection. Ensure that you have a stable and reasonably fast internet connection.
  • Close Unnecessary Tabs and Applications: Having too many tabs or applications open can consume system resources and slow down your computer. Close any unused tabs and background applications to free up resources.
  • Clear Browser Cache: If the issue occurs while browsing, clearing your browser's cache and cookies can often help. This can improve page load times.
  • Scan for Malware: Malware or viruses can significantly impact your computer's performance. Use a reputable antivirus program to scan your system for any threats and remove them.
  • Update Your Browser: Ensure that your web browser is up-to-date. Browsers often release updates to improve performance and security.
  • Update Your Operating System: Make sure your operating system is updated with the latest security patches and updates. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to performance issues.
  • Check for Background Processes: Use the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc in Windows or Activity Monitor on macOS) to check for resource-hungry background processes. You can end processes that are not essential.
  • Hardware Upgrade: If your computer is still slow and you use resource-intensive applications or websites frequently, consider upgrading your hardware. This could involve adding more RAM or upgrading to a faster solid-state drive (SSD).
  • Limit Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary programs from starting up when your computer boots. You can do this in the Task Manager or System Preferences (macOS).
  • Consider a Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work and your computer is still slow, you might consider doing a factory reset. This will erase everything on your computer, so make sure to back up important data first.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
