HP Notebook - 15-da0086od
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer went down and when I started it it came up with a blue screen saying it was diagnosing the problem and after that said it couldn't fix it and needed to restart.  It Secretary and do the same thing over and over.  I was able to get in and run a symptoms test and I received a 24 character code but don't know what to do with it.

Hi:

if you received a 24-character hard drive failure code, you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

I recommend two options to replace the drive:

1. Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports a fast performing NVMe M.2 solid state drive (SSD) such as the Western Digital Blue SN570.

2. You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive your notebook originally had with a 2.5" SATA SSD., such as the Western Digital Blue SA510 2.5" SSD.

The NVMe SSD would perform a bit better though.

After you replace the drive, your PC is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility:  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

Since you have to use another PC to install the tool on, you will need to enter the product number for your PC to create the recovery media, which is:  5EF87UA#ABA

I now have the new hard drive to install but I was trying to recover some of the files I had lost before I install the new drive.  When I ran the HP Recovery Manager it gave me and error code of FFFFFFOC.  This was when I chose for them to select the files to recover.  When I chose my own files to recover It flashes through many files but does not put them on the jump drive, I selected to put them on.  Thanks for any help you can offer.
