ENVY x360 - m6-ar004dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The latest Conexant HD Audio driver (8.65.176.1 Rev.F // sp80336) for my laptop is faulty and causes crashes (no blue screen, just straight to black and reboots).

Every time the crash is logged in event viewer, an error regarding UIUSrv.exe is registered preceding it, and disabling the service stops the crashes. At least two other persons have reported this issue. As those two state, the problem seems to be that UIUSrv.exe is nowhere to be found under C:\windows\system32, which is where it is supposed to be located.

Maybe I am having installation errors but I've done a bios update and OS reset, and the problem persists. The driver seems to be the culprit, as disabling the Conexant UIU Service fixes the crashes (but cuts out sound).

Can someone link me to an older version of the driver, or release an updated version?

Thank you.

Hi @tarp93 ,

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Barachiel is at your service.

I understand you are in need of support,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:

Goto control panel/devicemanager, right click on the conexant driver, click on properties.

  1. In the Properties window for the device, tap or click the Driver tab.
  2. From the Driver tab, tap or click the Roll Back Driver button.

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Eager to help!

The crashes started within the past month with increasing frequency (once every couple days). Maybe they occurred even earlier than that, but I never really paid attention to it.

The laptop is still under warranty so I contacted hp support on multiple occasions. Running hardware diagnostics and bios updates were unhelpful.

At any rate - right now the laptop runs perfectly. Since I disabled the audio driver service, there have been no crashes for the past week.

The rollback option for the Conexant driver is unavailable/grey. Is there a direct link for an older version of the driver? Someone in another thread pointed me to this link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80001-80500/sp80323.exe. But I don't know whether this is compatible with my laptop.

Thanks for the help!
