@manuu-mughal, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is detecting an issue with the cooling fan, which could lead to overheating and potentially cause damage or data loss. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
Shut Down and Inspect the Cooling Fan
- Turn off the laptop completely and unplug it from any power source.
- If you’re comfortable, open the back panel of your laptop to inspect the cooling fan for any visible dust, dirt, or blockages.
Clean the Cooling Fan
- Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or debris from the fan and vents. This can help improve airflow and restore proper cooling function.
Check the Fan in BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press the F10 key to enter the BIOS menu.
- Look for a section related to System Information or Diagnostics.
- Check if the BIOS detects the fan properly. If the fan is not being recognized, it might need replacement.
Update BIOS and Drivers
- Go to the HP Support website and check for any available BIOS or chipset driver updates for your specific model.
- Update your BIOS and all relevant drivers, especially those related to the cooling and power management systems.
Run HP Diagnostics
- HP laptops often have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues.
- Restart your laptop and press the Esc key repeatedly to enter the startup menu.
- Choose F2 to run HP's Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select the System Tests and run the Fan Check to see if it is operating properly.
Check Power Settings
- In Windows 10, go to Control Panel > Power Options and ensure your power settings aren’t limiting fan speed or causing the laptop to underperform.
- Set your power plan to Balanced or High Performance for proper cooling.
Replace the Cooling Fan
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the fan may be malfunctioning and might need to be replaced. You can visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)
