My laptop does not boot and only leaves a black screen. I have already tried connecting to an external monitor and it doesn't project. The screen did flash a few times and stated something about my BIOS being corrupted. There would be a progress bar but then it would return to a black screen, I recently tried the method of downloading the latest BIOS on the support page and creating a recovery USB flash drive. I inserted the flash drive and powered it on and the black screen still persisted. I tried it again, this time holding Windows Key + B before powering it on and with the flash drive inserted and it still didn't work.

Hi @persona1234,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your Laptop that boots to a black screen.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the below steps to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and check if it boots into Windows now.

B) Refer to the steps on this link to reset BIOS default.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to recover the BIOS and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
