Hello,
I want to upgrade my hp pavilion g7-2143sf cpu, but I am confused with which cpu. I found in manual that it is compatible with i7 2nd generation M cpu, however in the online repair service manual it said that it can run this model i7-3632QM 3rd generation. My current Cpu is Pentium dual core b950.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi:
Download and run the free HW Info app from the link below. I use the portable version.
Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS
Let me know what model Intel chipset it has.
The service manual indicates that it can support the Intel Core i7-3612QM processor which is 35W.
If the utility reports your PC has the Intel HM76 Express Chipset, then you can install the i7-3632QM processor.

You're very welcome.
Happy upgrading!
Should be quite a performance bump from a 2nd gen Pentium to a 3rd gen quad core.
I bet your PC will also support 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory afterward even though the service manual indicates 2 x 4 GB is the max.

Btw, really want to max out processor performance?
Just like I upgraded my legacy HP ProBook 6560b with a 45-watt processor (i7-2860QM), the OP's laptop is also compatible with 45-watt TDP processors, up to an Intel Core i7-3840QM (4-Cores, 8-Threads, 2.80 GHz up to 3.80 GHz, 45-watt TDP).
If my experience with a 45-watt processor is any guideline, I experienced zero thermal issues.
[EDIT:] And yes, this HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC User (i7-3740QM) fitted 2x8GB RAM running at 1600 MHz: HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
Kind Regards,
