I need to create a new set of recovery disks. I bought my laptop new and when I tryed to burn them the DVD was bad. Now my machine tells me I already created them when I really havent. Yes I know I can buy the software. I want to know what files and reg entries to delete to let me re burn them again. I know about these files but they are for windows 7. Ive got 10. Could they be the same files?
D:\hpdrcu.prc
C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\Recovery\hpdrcu.prc
C:\Users\All Users\Hewlett-Packard\Recovery\hpdrcu.prc
Are there any reg files to delete or change?
If anyone could add to this I would be grateful. I shouldnt have to buy dvds for something thats failed. For some reason my burner didnt like the brand of DVDs I was using. This could happen again after a second try if it dosent like the different brand either. What happened to the day software came with the computer. 2500.00 laptop you woukld think it would come with it.

Sorry no, due to licensing, you CAN'T create second set or Recovery DVD's. You can order from HP and the cost is around $40 depending on where you are.
Since your machine previously ran Windows 10, you can do a clean install W10 for free by using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
The tool will allow you to make a bootable installation media (USB/DVD) and you can use installation media to install.
During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.
Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.
Note: You can also use the above installtion media to refresh your machine and KEEP all user files and applications. You only need to tick the RIGHT option at the beginning.
Regards.
