Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Notebook15: 15-dw0037wm, that I need to create a bootable Windows 10 flashdrive with all needed DRIVERS for. The only working laptop I have available to use is a Chromebook. I need complete step by step instructions on creating the drive (with drivers!) using a Chromebook. Also, is there a way to use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool with the same scenario? Thank you in advance.

Hi @BlackMAGA

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool generally requires a Windows environment to run, so it won't work directly on a Chromebook. However, if you can borrow or access a Windows laptop, you could use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool there to create a recovery USB drive, which would include the operating system and necessary drivers.

Keep me posted if you can arrange windows laptop, if not then try these steps :

Step 1: Prepare Your Materials

  1. USB Flash Drive: Get a USB drive with at least 8GB of space.
  2. Windows 10 ISO: You need to download the Windows 10 ISO file.
  3. Driver Files: You’ll need to download the necessary drivers for your HP Notebook.

Step 2: Download the Windows 10 ISO

  1. Access Windows 10 ISO:
    • Visit the Microsoft Windows 10 download page.
    • Click on “Download tool now.” However, since you’re on a Chromebook, you’ll have to find a different way to get the ISO.
    • Look for a link that says "Download Windows 10 Disk Image (ISO)" and select the appropriate version.
    • Follow the prompts to download the ISO file.

Step 3: Download the Necessary Drivers

  1. Find Drivers for HP Notebook:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your notebook’s model number (15-dw0037wm).
    • Select “Drivers & Software” and download the required drivers (usually for the chipset, graphics, network, etc.).
    • Save these drivers to a folder on your Chromebook.

Step 4: Create a Bootable USB Drive

  1. Use an Online Tool:
    • Since you can’t use Windows tools directly on a Chromebook, you’ll need to use a tool like Etcher (https://www.balena.io/etcher/).
    • You can use Etcher online by visiting their website and following the prompts to create a bootable drive.
  2. Prepare Your USB Drive:
    • Insert your USB drive into your Chromebook.
    • Open the Etcher website.
    • Click on “Flash from file” and select the downloaded Windows 10 ISO.
    • Select your USB drive as the target.
    • Click “Flash!” to start the process.

Step 5: Add Drivers to the USB Drive

  1. Transfer Driver Files:
    • After the Windows 10 ISO is flashed, open the USB drive on your Chromebook.
    • Create a new folder (name it “Drivers”).
    • Copy the downloaded driver files into this folder.

Step 6: Boot from USB on Your HP Notebook

  1. Insert the Bootable USB Drive into your HP Notebook.
  2. Access Boot Menu:
    • Power on the notebook and immediately press Esc or F9 to access the boot menu.
  3. Select USB Drive:
    • Choose the USB drive from the list to boot from it.
  4. Install Windows:
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to install Windows 10.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
