Hi @nicky6996, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's cursor is shaking or jumping when using the touchpad, try these troubleshooting steps:

Check for Dirt or Moisture on the Touchpad

  • Clean the touchpad with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Make sure your fingers are dry and clean.

Adjust Touchpad Sensitivity

  • Open SettingsDevicesTouchpad.
  • Reduce the sensitivity under "Touchpad sensitivity" settings.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click on HID-compliant touchpad or Synaptics/ELAN touchpad.
    • Click Update driverSearch automatically for updated driver.
    • If updating doesn’t help, click Uninstall device and restart your laptop.

Disable Other Input Devices

  • If you’re using an external mouse, unplug it and check if the issue persists.
  • Go to Device ManagerHuman Interface Devices and disable unnecessary HID-compliant devices.

Check for External Interference

  • Keep your laptop away from electronic devices that may cause interference (e.g., USB dongles, wireless devices).
  • If you’re using a charger, try unplugging it and check if the issue improves.

Disable "Enhance Pointer Precision"

  • Open Control PanelMousePointer Options.
  • Uncheck Enhance pointer precision and apply the changes.

Perform a BIOS Update

  • Check HP’s support website for any available BIOS updates.
  • If an update is available, install it carefully following HP’s instructions.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop and boot into Safe Mode (Shift + RestartAdvanced OptionsStartup SettingsEnable Safe Mode).
  • If the cursor behaves normally in Safe Mode, a third-party software or driver might be the cause.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows Update and install any pending updates.

Perform a System Restore (If Issue Started Recently)

  • Open Control PanelRecoveryOpen System Restore.
  • Choose a restore point before the issue started and restore the system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
