I have a disk "D" partition, containing something that seems to be a recovery folders. That partition is too small, and there is no way to expand it. But I need a D letter for a larger partition. Can I change this D letter to any other?

Your best solution, in my view, is to use an application to make an image backup of your PC to a USB stick. That way, you no longer need the Recovery Drive and and change the letter to something else, and assign "D" to whichever drive you want.
I used to recommend Macrium Reflect, but they retired the free version last year. So now, I recommend Hasleo Backup Suite -- which is still free.

When you create a new partition, you can assign it about any letter you want -- but leave the "D" partition alone, as that is used to do recovery. If you mess with that in any way, recovery will not work anymore. You don 't need the "D" letter; instead, you can assign something else.

Recovery 😧 partition will stay on its SIZE for the rest of its life. You did write something to it, that why.

That is exactly the problem. I have always used the D partition for data. I have that set among many devices and users, different people with whom I need to share data, which goes to D partition and D partition only. D partition was my original choice, many years ago, and now that choice has been hijacked from me. I am cornered now and don't know how to resolve it. Theoretically, if an external drive could be plugged into a laptop and somehow temporarily assigned the letter D, that might work. So when I eject that drive, the D partition will be assigned back to recovery. But I don't know if that is possible.
