Hi @Duggirala2
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're seeing pop-up windows with DLL errors every 10 minutes, it suggests that a system or application file might be corrupted or missing. DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files are essential components that help programs run, so when there's an error related to a DLL, it can affect your system's functionality.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
1. Run System File Checker (SFC)
The System File Checker (SFC) tool scans and repairs corrupted or missing system files.
Steps:
- Press Win + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
- In the command window, type the following command and press Enter:sfc /scannow
- Wait for the scan to complete. It might take some time, and it will automatically fix any issues it finds.
- Once done, restart your computer and check if the DLL error persists.
2. Run the DISM Tool (Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool)
If SFC doesn’t resolve the issue, try using DISM to fix system corruption.
Steps:
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin) again.
- Enter the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the process to complete (it may take several minutes).
- Afterward, run the SFC tool again to ensure the issue is fixed.
3. Check for Malicious Software
DLL errors can sometimes be caused by malware or viruses. It’s a good idea to run a full system scan to make sure your system is not infected.
- Open Windows Security by pressing Win + I and navigating to Update & Security > Windows Security.
- Click on Virus & Threat Protection and select Quick Scan or Full Scan for a deeper search.
You can also use additional tools like Malwarebytes for a more thorough scan.
4. Reinstall or Update the Software Associated with the DLL
If you can identify which program is associated with the DLL error, you can try reinstalling or updating it.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see which program is causing the error.
- Once you know which software is involved, go to its website and check for updates or reinstall the application.
5. Manually Replace the DLL File
If you know the exact DLL file causing the error, you can try replacing it.
Steps:
- Search for the DLL file name in the error message.
- Look up the DLL file on trusted websites (like DLL-files.com), and download the correct version.
- Place the new DLL file in the appropriate folder (usually C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW64).
- Restart your computer to check if the issue is resolved.
6. Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, Windows updates can fix DLL issues. Ensure your system is up-to-date.
Steps:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for Updates and install any available updates.
- Restart your computer if needed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
