HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G9 Notebook PC (4D3X1AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We're currently running into an issue with our HP 450 G9 (i5 12th Gen) laptops (Win10 22H2) where they are receiving the BSOD and on reboot are met with a DMA Protection message. We've tried the traditional updates using HPIA including a newer BIOS update from December however the issue continues to happen.

The minidump files all contain the same kernel failing/reporting error which led us into trying driver verifier on an affected laptop but after a week + of testing we haven't gotten the same error.

Anyone else have any luck with this error or have any tips on this?

Same issue, no solution so far after week+ of troubleshooting.. dozens of machines.

I have waited for a solution. I am close to 15 machines affected at this point.

I've opened a ticket with HP, because we are desperate, we have dozens machines affected at this point, and I woke up to a ticket being closed saying it's "Irrelevant"... Great job, HP!

Someone else noted in another thread to use Windows built in Driver verifier to try and load the system to cause it to crash and then capture why.

Other options are to disable DMA Protection in the BIOS, and use Defender Memory protection instead as a work around.

Been there, done that, figure it out person..

Having the same issue, so far I updated the BIOS to 01.13.00 Rev.A version, and rolled back windows  update from KB5050188  to KB5048652.

So far nothing solved the issue, can someone please let me know if you tried disabling the DMA protection in the BIOS and it worked?

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issue with the same PC model. If anyone has a solution, please share it.

I've noticed that the problem occurs consistently when I have the "Link to Phone" app enabled. When I turn it on and connect my mobile device to my PC (only through Link to Windows), the PC restarts with a blue screen within 5 minutes or more, followed by the DMA protection message "a device attempted to access...".

There were instances where I hadn't used "Link to Phone," but the problem still occurred, albeit less frequently. Today, I didn't use "Link to Phone," and the issue didn't happen. However, the previous day, it occurred multiple times even though I never opened "Link to Phone."

Please, someone on HP to start working on this issue. If not, I would have to make a complaint.

The driver verifier shows the issue with a network driver.
So, I will try rolling back the network drivers and see if that fixes the issue. But it needs to be addressed by HP/Microsoft ASAP.

BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER (7c)
The operating system detected an error in a networking driver.
The BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER BugCheck identifies problems in network drivers.
Often, the defect is caused by a NDIS miniport driver. You can get a complete
list of NDIS miniport drivers using !ndiskd.netadapter. You can get a
big-picture overview of the network stack with !ndiskd.netreport.

Has anyone found a solution yet? I have around 15 to 20 affected devices.

Unfortunately, HP doesn't give a f*ck about their older laptops...
