Following the last round of windows updates the DVD drive in my laptop has been disabled as the driver is not digitally signed.
According to the Device Manager it is an HP DVDRAM GT20L, the driver is version 10.0.17134.137 dated 20th June 2006.
I can activate it on a per session basis by temporarily disabling Driver Signature Enforcement but am looking for a permanent solution.
All the forums I have looked at have recommended using an elevated CMD prompt and then running the command:
"bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on" or "bcdedit.exe /set testsigning off"
However, I've also found lots of references saying those commands are no longer valid. The HP Support site is of no help lisintg no further drivers available for this model and nothing for Windows 10 at all.
The machine is running perfectly well but I can't do anything with it unless I can get this driver issue resolved.
Appreciate any suggestions or help that is available.

Hello @GraemeT
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
There is an official procedure about this (kind of).
Try "turning back time" by using System Restore
System Restore is a software program available in all modern versions of Windows. System Restore automatically creates restore points, a memory of the system files and settings on the computer at a particular point in time. You can also create a restore point yourself. Then, when you use System Restore to restore your computer to a point in time before an issue began, System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.
Here is more info and how to use it >> https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c03327545
Once you complete it, download a tool from Microsoft to temporary block the update which causes the failure >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/3183922/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-windows-update-from-re...
This tool can hide the faulty update and prevent it from reinstalling for a period of about 30-35 days. Make sure you select the recent updates. This will give Microsoft (and HP) developers time to investigate and fix this.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
