HP Laptop 15-ef2127wm
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP laptop 15-ef is dead and will not charge. The orange light indicating a charge is not on, even with a brand new charger. I have taken the battery out and held the power button for a minute, plugged it in without a battery, and checked the port for any debris. Nothing I have tried has worked.

Hi @KatsNFrogs,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop (model 15-ef) is completely unresponsive, not charging, and showing no signs of life even with a new charger, it indicates a deeper issue. Here's a structured approach to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Verify Power Source and Adapter:

  • Ensure the power outlet you're using is working by testing it with another device.
  • Even though you've tried a new charger, confirm it's the correct specification for your laptop.

Inspect the Power Port:

  • Use a flashlight to inspect the laptop’s charging port for any visible damage, debris, or bent pins.
  • Try gently wiggling the charger plug in the port to see if the charging light comes on briefly, indicating a potential loose connection.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and try to turn on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
