Dear HP Support,
I am using an HP EliteBook 840 G5, and I am facing two problems:
The fingerprint scanner is not working at all. It is not detected in Windows Hello or Device Manager.
When I investigated the issue, I found that the BIOS version installed on my laptop is very old or incorrect. It may have caused the fingerprint problem.
I tried to install the correct or updated BIOS version (Q78 Ver. 01.31.00 or 01.56.00), but the system refuses to install it — the update is blocked or ignored.
I believe that the current BIOS is preventing the fingerprint scanner from working and is also blocking official BIOS updates.
I kindly request your help to:
Restore or flash the correct BIOS version for this device
Fix the fingerprint scanner and enable Windows Hello
Please guide me step-by-step or provide tools and support to recover the original BIOS.
Thank you for your time and support
