Notebook 15-ay104tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Whenever I boot up the laptop it, the HP startup screen appears followed by "Preparing Automatic Repair" and "Diagnosing your PC" messages below the HP logo. This is followed by an Automatic Repair screen stating "Your PC did not start correctly" and giving me the option to restart or select "Advanced Options" to troubleshoot. Upon selecting any of these options I am brought back to the same screen and cannot seem to get past this.

I have performed a hard reset as online FAQs suggest.

I have also performed a hard drive check in the System Diagnostics upon which I had received a Failure ID: RK64W0-89C931-XD7X7F-61DJ03

This problem is persistent. Kindly assist

It means hard drive is failing or had failed

You need to replace it with a new one. I understand that you're out of warranty

You can use LiveCD to boot into and salvage all the necessary files to external drive:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

Or take out the HDD, use SATA to USB adapter and connect to another working computer, use explorer to copy the files to external drive
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB3S2SAT3CB-Drive-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00HJZJI84

You can buy a branded 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid state drive.

These are good enough:
Spinning mechanical drive, cheap, less speed
https://www.amazon.com/Black-500GB-Performance-Mobile-Drive/dp/B00QFXOL5G

Chip based drive, bit costly, huge performance boost
http://www.samsung.com/in/business/memory-storage/850-evo-sata-3-2-5-inch-ssd/mz-75e500bw/

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05087748

Use HP recovery USB to factory reset OS after replacement of HDD
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961#AbT4

Else, if you've previously successfully upgraded and activated Windows 10 : you could also clean install latest build of Windows 10 by creating UEFI bootable Windows 10 installation USB using Microsoft windows media creation tool. Windows will be automatically activated on installation while connected to internet.
