Hi @viivaan ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP Diagnostics app (DiagScap) is causing random shutdowns on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check for Windows Updates
Ensure that your Windows 11 system is up-to-date:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
2. Update HP Diagnostic Tools
HP often releases updates for their diagnostic apps. You can either:
- Uninstall and Reinstall HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features, find the HP Diagnostics tool, and uninstall it.
- Download the latest version from HP's support website: HP Diagnostics.
3. Check for Any Pending HP Software Updates
- Open HP Support Assistant.
- Check for updates related to the diagnostics tool or any other system software.
4. Scan for Corrupted Files
There might be corrupted system files causing the issue:
- Open Command Prompt (as an administrator). sfc /scannow
- Run the command: This will check and repair any corrupted system files.
5. Perform a System Diagnostic Test (Outside of Windows)
To ensure hardware issues aren’t causing the shutdowns:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly (before Windows loads) to access the Startup Menu.
- Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu.
- Run a System Test to check for hardware problems.
6. Disable HP Diagnostics (Temporary Solution)
If the issue persists, you can temporarily disable or uninstall the diagnostics tool:
- Open Task Manager > Startup tab.
- Find HP Diagnostics and disable it from startup.
Refer to this document: HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
