Hi @viivaan ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP Diagnostics app (DiagScap) is causing random shutdowns on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check for Windows Updates

Ensure that your Windows 11 system is up-to-date:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.

2. Update HP Diagnostic Tools

HP often releases updates for their diagnostic apps. You can either:

  • Uninstall and Reinstall HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Open Control Panel > Programs and Features, find the HP Diagnostics tool, and uninstall it.
    • Download the latest version from HP's support website: HP Diagnostics.

3. Check for Any Pending HP Software Updates

  • Open HP Support Assistant.
  • Check for updates related to the diagnostics tool or any other system software.

4. Scan for Corrupted Files

There might be corrupted system files causing the issue:

  • Open Command Prompt (as an administrator). sfc /scannow

  • Run the command: This will check and repair any corrupted system files.

5. Perform a System Diagnostic Test (Outside of Windows)

To ensure hardware issues aren’t causing the shutdowns:

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Press Esc repeatedly (before Windows loads) to access the Startup Menu.
  3. Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu.
  4. Run a System Test to check for hardware problems.

6. Disable HP Diagnostics (Temporary Solution)

If the issue persists, you can temporarily disable or uninstall the diagnostics tool:

  • Open Task Manager > Startup tab.
  • Find HP Diagnostics and disable it from startup.

Refer to this document: HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
