Hi there, I would like to disable my touchpad but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it without literally uninstalling the touchpad from the device manager.  I have followed many of the other posts in regards to this and I have yet to find an option that is applicable to my situation.  Again, even when I go into the device manager and look up the ELAN clickpad in this instance, it only gives me the option to completely uninstall it, which I don't want to do.  I simply want to disable it.  Surely I am not the only one with this issue?

Hi @hazelelias,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. On some HP notebooks, the option to disable the touchpad may not appear in Device Manager even though the touchpad driver is installed.

Please try the following:

  1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
    • If the Touchpad setting is available, switch it to Off.

  2. If you do not see a Touchpad option there, please let us know the exact model number or product number of your HP notebook and the version of Windows you are using. HP notebooks can have different touchpad hardware and software configurations, and we'll check the correct method available for your specific model.

Keep us posted, and we'll be happy to help further.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
