Hello, sorry for my English but I use a translator. I recently bought a HP notebook and I would need to disable bitlocker for a clean installation but it is not possible. Is there a solution? Thanks

Hi @Zwhile,
Please find the alternative method below.
Using Command Prompt:
If you prefer using the Command Prompt, you can disable BitLocker using the following steps:
Open Command Prompt as Administrator:
- Press Win + X and select Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
Check BitLocker Status:
Disable BitLocker:
Wait for Decryption to Complete:
After completing these steps, BitLocker will be turned off, and you won't need a recovery key to access your drive in the future. Make sure to back up your data before disabling BitLocker, as decryption processes can sometimes be interrupted.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Zwhile,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To disable the BitLocker recovery key on your Windows 11 HP laptop, you will need to turn off BitLocker encryption. Here are the steps to do that:
1. Open Control Panel:
- Press Win + S to open the search bar, type Control Panel, and hit Enter.
- Click on System and Security.
2. Access BitLocker Drive Encryption:
- In the System and Security section, click on BitLocker Drive Encryption.
3. Turn Off BitLocker:
- Find the drive that is encrypted with BitLocker (usually the C: drive).
- Click on Turn off BitLocker next to the drive you want to disable BitLocker on.
- Confirm by clicking Turn off BitLocker again in the prompt.
4. Decrypt the Drive:
- The decryption process will start. It may take some time depending on the size of the drive and the amount of data stored.
- You can monitor the decryption progress in the BitLocker Drive Encryption window.
5. Restart the Laptop (if necessary):
- After the decryption is complete, you might need to restart your laptop.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi Elohi, sorry for the delay, I inform you that the first solution with the control panel was not possible, (in the right-click menu there was no disable item) while I succeeded with the second option. Thanks for the reply ... a greeting .... Zwhile
