My daughters hp notebook crashed and it now starts up but shows nothing but a black screen.I got into the bios and it showed the hard drive.I made a recovery usb flash drive with Microsoft rescue app..using diskpart I was able to see the hard drive was labeled as “raw”..I tried to change it to ntfs in cmd but it wouldn’t work.I then tried a partition manager to try and fix it but it also crashed saying it encountered an error and needed to shut down. Now when using diskpart it shows no available disks except the usb flash drive…My next step is to try and load a storage driver for the hard drive.Extremely frustrated…Any ideas ?it’s a hp notebook 14-dk0002dx with a 128 gb pcie nvme m.2 ssd

You're very welcome,
The Short DST check should also have reported a pass and not a warning.
I'm thinking something has happened to the drive and you will need to buy a new one.
You can go larger than 128 GB if you want.
I think the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro) is a good option.
They come in 250 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB capacities.
W10 has the storage controller drivers for that model notebook and there should be no need to install a NVMe storage controller driver.

Hi:
I recommend that you run the hard drive test using the F2 prompt.
If it passes, I recommend that you use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.
You can use another PC running W7 64 bit or newer for this process and you will need a 32 GB USB flash drive.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility...

If the test produces a 24-character disk failure ID code you will need to install a new NVMe SSD.
Below is the link to the service manual.

Thanks Paul…
I will try the hp recovery tool but don’t think it will work as my hard drive, windows partition nothing is showing but I’ll give it a shot.Confused as to why the hard drive was showing at one time but now it’s not.I did notice after running the partition manager that the usb drive was labeled “x” and when I did “list volume” on it,it showed a volume labeled “c” …that’s the letter for the hard drive?
