Microsoft Windows 11

Hello people from HP

Today I found out that when I started up my HP victus  laptop that my internal screen is black, all tough when I connect my laptop to a external monitor it works. I ran all the differant HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI test, but it says that there is nothing wrong with it

when I go to settings on System>Display>Advanced Display it says by 'Display information' it is connected 'ADM Radeon(TM) grapgisch' if I click on the downwords arrow it says that the 'display 1 isn't active'

Can you please help me out to make it active again

Kind regards Jaap

Hi @Niels10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly! It seems like there might be an issue with the internal display settings or the graphics driver. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the official AMD website and downloading the latest drivers for your Radeon graphics card.

Check Display Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
  • Under the "Multiple displays" section, make sure that the option you desire is selected (e.g., "Duplicate," "Extend," or "Second screen only").
  • Click on the inactive display (internal screen) and ensure it is set to "Extend" or "Duplicate" mode.

Windows Key + P:

  • Press the Windows key + P to open the projection options.
  • Choose the appropriate projection mode, such as "Duplicate" or "Second screen only."

Function Key (Fn) + Display Toggle:

  • Some laptops have a function key (usually labeled as Fn) that can toggle between different display modes. Look for a key with a monitor symbol and press it while holding down the Fn key.

BIOS Settings:

  • Enter your laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings during startup (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del).
  • Look for any settings related to display options and ensure that the internal display is enabled.

Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Under "Display adapters," right-click on your AMD Radeon graphics card and choose "Update driver."

Rollback Graphics Driver:

  • If you recently updated your graphics driver and the issue started afterward, try rolling back to the previous driver version.
  • In the Device Manager, right-click on your graphics card, choose "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver" if available.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently and you're not sure what caused it, you can perform a system restore to revert your system to a previous state when the internal display was working. You can do this by typing "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and following the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
