My hp laptop I just bought a couple weeks ago keeps getting this error and restarting a few times an hour. We tried the upgrade with tech support to home 11. But it still keeps on. I have went through the driver's and updated them all. I've also reinstalled windows twice. Ran the verifier in command prompt. IDK what to do. It's an hp laptop 15. It's red or maroon. Running windows home 11. I'm about to take it back to Walmart. It's been a headache sense I got it.

Hi @Wildwill89,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Have you contacted someone from HP previously?

If yes, then please provide the case number if you have one, this will help me get a better understanding of the issue.

Meanwhile, try these steps:

A DMA violation error often indicates issues with drivers, hardware compatibility, or system settings. Here are the steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue before considering a return:

Update BIOS:

  • Outdated BIOS can cause compatibility issues with Windows 11.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update from the HP support site for your specific laptop model.

Update All Drivers:

  • Ensure all drivers, especially chipset and storage drivers, are updated.
  • Use HP Support Assistant to automatically check and update drivers.

Disable Driver Verifier:

  • If enabling Driver Verifier caused the issue, disable it completely.
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:verifier /reset
    • Restart the laptop.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Perform a hardware diagnostic test using HP Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Access the diagnostics tool by restarting your laptop and repeatedly pressing F2 or Esc to enter the menu.

Clean Install Windows 11:

  • Instead of reinstalling, perform a clean installation of Windows 11.
  • Backup personal data and reinstall Windows using a bootable USB created with the Windows Media Creation Tool.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Fast startup can sometimes cause system instability.
  • Navigate to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck “Turn on fast startup”.

Check System for Corruption:

  • Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM tool:
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:sfc /scannow
    • After the SFC scan completes, run:DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I hope this helps.
