Hi @humphreyhung

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Pavilion Notebook with an AMD A8-7410 APU and AMD Radeon R5 Graphics may support ChromeOS Flex, but there are a few factors to consider. Here are some troubleshooting steps and tips to help you get it working:

1. Check Compatibility

  • Ensure that your specific model is compatible with ChromeOS Flex. While many HP laptops work, not all configurations are guaranteed to be fully supported.

2. Create Bootable USB Correctly

  • Make sure you created the bootable USB using the correct method. You can use the Chromebook Recovery Utility in Chrome or tools like Rufus.
  • Ensure that the USB drive is formatted correctly (FAT32) and that you are using a reliable USB stick.

3. Boot Menu

  • When starting your laptop, access the boot menu (usually by pressing Esc or F9 repeatedly as it starts) to select the USB drive.
  • Sometimes, you might need to change the boot order in the BIOS settings to prioritize USB drives.

4. Check Display Settings

  • If you see a black screen, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + F2 to switch to a different virtual console. Sometimes the graphical interface might not load correctly, but you can still access the system via terminal.

5. Disable Secure Boot

  • Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc or F10 during boot) and check if Secure Boot is enabled. If it is, try disabling it, as this can sometimes interfere with booting from USB.

6. Test with Another USB Port

  • If you have multiple USB ports, try using a different one, preferably a USB 2.0 port if available, as compatibility can vary with USB 3.0 ports.

7. Try a Different Version of ChromeOS Flex

  • If you're using a specific build of ChromeOS Flex, try downloading the latest version or a different build from the official website.

8. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Ensure that your laptop’s firmware (BIOS) is up to date, as this can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with newer operating systems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

There's no way to switch to another console with pressing Ctrl + Alt + F2 , pressing space was into ChromeOS flex but screen shows multi-parallel lines. I will try to boot into different ChromeOS flex version.IMG_6153.JPGIMG_6154.JPG

Hi @humphreyhung,

May I know does this happens on the bios page?

To access the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) on an HP laptop, you can:
Turn off the computer

Press the power button

Press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens

Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup Utility

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
