Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa2000 (A8VX6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been using this Victus laptop for a year now and wish to downgrade my operating system to Windows 10 because Windows 11 uses too much RAM at idle. I want to downgrade in such a way that it keeps all my applications and documents. The other reason for downgrading is the awful UI/UX design of Windows 11.

Is it possible, or will I have to use an external drive to back up my data first?

You can downgrade, but you should back up all your important data to an external drive or USB. I personally don’t recommend downgrading because Windows 10 is out of support, so there is no longer any security updates. Some applications, services, and newer software may not work properly on Windows 10 because they are optimized for Windows 11.

Instead of downgrading, you can optimize Windows 11 according to your needs and continue using it. That would be a much better option. You can try optimizing Windows to improve overall system performance and responsiveness. One tool worth checking out is Chris Titus Tech Windows Utility, also known as the Chris Titus utility. It is widely used for Windows optimization, and you can find YouTube tutorials explaining how to use its features. However, make sure you understand each option before applying any changes.

If you have any third-party antivirus installed, consider uninstalling it if you don't need it, as some antivirus programs can consume system resources.

Also, open Task Manager and check which processes are running in the background. Uninstall unnecessary programs and disable startup apps that you don't need. Keep only the startup applications that are important for your daily use.
