HP Pavilion 15-poo3tx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Capture.PNG

Hi All,

I  use HP Pavilion 15-poo3tx in which Windows 8.1 64-bit Single Language came pre-installed. I had also upgraded this to Windows 10 more than a year back however due to Notebook sleep & shutdown issues, I decided to rollback & do a clean install of Windows 8.1 which this HP Pavilion 15 notebook came pre-installed it.

Now this time in a hope that Microsoft would have surely released a fix to these couple of issues, I am again planning to download a full version of original Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit and perform a clean install of it in this notebook though I do not see my laptop's model listed at HP Website which shows list of laptops on which Windows 10 will perform fine.

So while I already know the standard link to download Windows 10 by doing a google search, can anybody over here guide me if Microsoft also offers a special link for those HP users that have Windows 8.1 pre-installed and doesn't require a Windows 10 product key during pre & post installation???

Regards,

Apoorva.

Hello @apoorva_sheth

If your Windows was successfully activated the last time you installed and you had no activation problems, then most likely you can simply install Windows 10 now - your PC and its hardware configuration will have a Digital entitlement, a new method of Windows 10 activation which will not require you enter a key. Your hardware configuration is bonded with a unique identified for your PC which Microsoft will recognize after Windows 10 installation and active Internet connection

Should you need to enter a key, you may now extract the BIOS key for Windows (8.1) which may or may not work on Windows 10. I cannot be sure because I don't know how Windows 10 was initially activated.

Download ProduKey from Nirsoft >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

x86 Windows >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey.zip

x64 Windows >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey-x64.zip

Extract the archive and run the program.

It will open and show you the available keys it detects. Does it detect your BIOS and Windows key(s) ? Does it says Windows version ?  Take a picture of the codes and write them down. Do not post them here, just keep them for yourself.
