All I am pointing out is the instructions that HP posted regarding right clicking on the file and selecting Extract to are incorrect.

You need a file utility such as 7-zip to do that process, and you did not inform the person to do that until after I did.

Nothing, it doesn't work. I don't know why. I followed the instructions perfectly but nothing.
But the linux distributions I can install them without problems.
What if I try to install an old version of windows 10?

I think I know what the problem is.

Another forum member had the same issue.

He had to install W10 from the USB 'C' port.

The regular sized USB port didn't work to install.

You are getting a different error than not being able to find the hard drive.

Then I'll try with a usb-c to usb adapter. But it is strange that ubuntu manages to install it while windows cannot.

I agree.

It is a very strange problem that I have not seen with W10 until that discussion I just provided.

HP Recommended

Ho, I bought the adapter. I'll try tonight. We hope.

Nothing. Even with the adapter it doesn't work, it always gives me the usual error. I have to resign myself to staying with Ubuntu. I will try with Windows11 when it comes out. The question always remains as to why the ubuntu distro when I installed it found me all the available drivers without a problem.

That is very unfortunate.

I was hoping installing W10 from the USB C port would work since it worked for the other person.

The only other thing you can try would be to see if an older version of W10 will work.

Here is the link to the W10 v2004 ISO file  64 bit Italian version.

The link will be good for 24 hours from the time of this reply.

Use the rufus tool to make a bootable UEFI installation file.

Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

This file is also small enough to burn to a standard DVD and you can use a USB DVD and try to install that way as well.

There has to be a way to beat this problem.

Finally with the old version of windows 10 the installation goes on. Only thing when it asks where to install the operating system I had to load the drivers of my nwme disk. Drivers available on the HP website. Now I proceed with the installation and various updates. Thank you very much. Strange, however, that with a more updated version the installation does not go ahead. Maybe if I came from windows he would have no problems, but coming from ubuntu maybe he was missing something. I update once everything is finished.

You're very welcome.

Yes, I am still wondering why this happened.

There are two reasons I know of as to why you get that error and only one of them would happen on W10.

1. You are installing Windows 7 on a PC that only has USB 3 ports.  W7 does not have the USB3 drivers in order to proceed.

There is a way to get around that problem pretty easily though.

2.  The installation media itself has a problem, like a missing file, or incomplete download of the operating system.

It could even be that Windows doesn't like the USB flash drive that was used.

If a DVD was used to for the media, the burn was made at too fast a speed.  Always burn an OS to a DVD at no more than 2x, to be assured that no problems will occur.

Now I wonder if I had suggested the same thing (older ISO file) to the other person if it would have worked as well.

I'm glad that you were able to overcome this perplexing and frustrating problem.
