Hi all, hope you're well.
I was recently given a very beaten up old HP Pavilion G series g6-1338sa.
I have wiped it an re-installed Windows XP sp3 (32-bit) in an attempt to use it as an old machine for some retro gaming. I am aware of the security issues of using an old O/S, it'll be used purely as a gaming machine and I will disable network adapters etc.
However I have noticed after installing XP that I am having difficulty locating drivers.
(I was given no CDs with the laptop and the seller does not have anything to provide me with).
I have managed to get WiFi working, but that is about it.
Having difficulty finding intel chipset / SRS Audio / graphics (AMD Radeon) etc.
Any help locating these would be greatly appreciated.
Have a nice weekend all.
Frieda.

Hi, Frieda:
The G6-1338sa, from what I can find on the Internet, has an AMD processor, so there would be no Intel drivers you need for it.
That model came with W7 from HP and no XP drivers were available for your notebook.
See if these XP drivers work for you...

Thanks so much for your help Paul. Those graphics drivers did work, amazing!! Really surprised they worked so well. I thought that’d be the most difficult to get working. The audio drivers failed on install unfortunately but maybe there’s some sort of generic XP audio driver I can download somewhere.

You're very welcome, Frieda.
Unfortunately there isn't a generic XP driver for the IDT audio.
You need a specialized driver for that system, and since I don't know what driver XP uses for that specific device which only has W7 drivers, that may be a no-go.
See if this XP driver works...it is the same version for XP that shows for W7 on your notebook's support page...6.10.6435.0.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60001-60500/sp60317.exe
If that doesn't work either, I have another idea, if you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 Home product key on your notebook's case.
I can give you the download to the W7 Home Premium ISO file, and you can create bootable installation media and install the supported W7 64 bit operating system.

Paul after a reboot the original drivers you pointed me towards, worked for the Audio too!! Sound is working fine now using the file sp59291.exe. Thanks again for your help - I now have this notebook working perfectly with XP even though it orginally came with W7! Great!
