Hi:

I'll see what I can do to help you with this...first a question...

Go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Bluetooth device manager category.

Do you see a Generic Bluetooth adapter listed there, or do you see a Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth adapter listed there?

If you see a Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth adapter listed there, the person indicates that you need to uninstall that device, and check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC, and it should show up as a generic Bluetooth adapter.

To do that, right click on the Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth adapter, select uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.

Then restart the PC, and now you should see a Generic Bluetooth adapter.

If you first see a Generic Bluetooth adapter listed there, then proceed directly to the first driver install step.

Then he says to install the driver from the Microsoft Update catalog.

I have simplified the process for you, and created the two driver files that I zipped up and attached below he said you needed from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

So here is what you do...

Download and unzip the two driver files I attached below to their folders.

Do not do anything with the files in the folders.

Go to the device manager, click on the Generic Bluetooth device listed there.

Click on the driver tab, Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for drivers option, and browse to the first driver folder 10.0.1.15.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Then see if you can connect to a bluetooth device.

If you can, then he says to update that driver to the second one.

Go back to the device manager.  Click on the Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth device.

DO NOT uninstall the Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth device this time.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for drivers option, and browse to the 10.0.1.22 driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

@ARJUN2000

IF there are no Win10 drivers on the HP page, then HP does not make them for your model PC -- which is the case with many of the Win7 PCs.  Thus, there is no way to update the drivers from HP because they do not exist.

There are others here that have access to drivers I do not have, and they might provide links to drivers that will work but if that is not the case, you are stuck with the drivers you currently have as HP is not writing Win10 drivers for the older Win7 model PCs.

Hi, @ARJUN2000

Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10, and the particular Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter your notebook comes with, has no W10 driver that is easy to install.

See if the info at the link below is of help to you...

If that doesn't work, you will need to purchase an external USB Bluetooth adapter that works on Windows 10.

@ARJUN2000

Bluetooth suddenly NOT working has become a known issue in Windows 10.  MS has refused to recognize this as an issue so is not working on a fix for it.

I had one of my laptops suffer the same fate -- so I had to pursue the solution that @Paul_Tikkanen mentioned and buy a BT dongle for it. It cost me $15 -- but now I have BT back!

Sir, Can you explain me that what to do now. The Link you sent me:    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/qualcomm-atheros-ar3012-blueto...     I was unable to understand it. Please if you can, do explain me the steps shown there.
