I recently re-installed, using the disks I purchased, Windows 8 on my Pavilion g6z-2200 CTO notebook, because after installing the Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) of Windows 10, the computer started to restart on it's own, periodically.
I know a bit about computer security (having studied the CompTIA Security+ material) and I know that can sometimes mean you have malware that the anti-malware program isn't catching.
BUT, I'm having the same trouble that I had with upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, that I had back in 2013, again BUT, I now can't find whatever drivers I used to finally make Windows 8.1 work.
I've come across old pages of my questions from that time but they've been achived and links to other info gives me an error message.
I don't want to be stuck with Windows 8 since Microsoft no longer supports it.

They don't seem to.
I got 8.1 to download and it went through the percentage setup (100%) but now the screen is on thatis black background with the HP logo and the spinning circle of dots and nothing else.
I can tell you, I have been very unhappy with this computer because of this problem with the 8.1 upgrade.
I had a lot of trouble back in 2013 and again one time I re-installed 8 then ungraded to 8.1, in about 2014.
I actually didn't really want to do this again for such a reason, but was concerned about the malware issue.
