I have been repairing computers for more than 25 years, I am an Electronics and Computer Systems Engineer, so I expect a real answer and not one of many incoherent answers that I have read in HP and Microsoft forums. I have an HP 14-ck0001la laptop that I use for my son's schoolwork and sometimes, to test Software, Live-USB's and Linux distributions, in which everything worked fine. I recently updated its drivers and…. the BIOS. After the BIOS update to version F.69 Rev A. the Elantech touchpad is no more detect by Windows, the Hardware is no longer present it sayed. Neither Linux nor any other software tool, detect touchpad in the system. It is obvious to me that the firmware is faulty and a bug in the firmware disabled the touchpad. Using the BIOS recovery method (Win+B at startup), I tried to install a previous version of it, but the flash program reports the missing of the signature file (.sig). This file is present on the bootable USB in the folder ‘Hewlett-Packard\Bios\Current\08656.sig’ and ‘HP\Bios\Current\08656.sig’, but only in the latest BIOS image (F.69), it does not exist in NONE of the previous version images available for download. How am I supposed to install a previous version of BIOS, if a file is missing that the flash program explicitly asks for, how can I generate this file or where can I download a full BIOS image. Thank you HP, you are good at selling, but not at giving adequate support to your products!
