Trying to downgrade the Win 11 Pro to Win 10 and the Product ID for the G9 is not recognized. The laptop does show
up in the supported list list for the recovery tool, but in getting to the recovery tool download, the Product ID is requested, which I retrieved from the Support Assistant, and the ID is not recognized. With 4 other PCs running Win 10, and 2 of them not upgradeable, I'd like to keep this new system on Win 10 and not have to deal with Win 11 yet. I have gotten the Win 10 download te Windows 10 installation Media directly from Windows, but I'm a bit leary of installing it that way, not knowing if there is some HW that is only supported by Win 11. I doubt that is the case, and would appreciate the group's wisdom about that, in addition to any help from HP to access the HP Support Assistant for the G9.

Hi:
You should be able to use the W10 Installation media you created from Microsoft to clean install W10 on your notebook.
You will probably need to install the Intel Rapid Storage Controller driver in order for W10 to find the drive.
My question is: Are you using the right version of the cloud recovery tool?
HP consumer PC's use the HP cloud recovery tool which needs the PC's product number in order to work.
HP business PC's (unless something has changed very recently) use the PC's serial number in order to work and they use a different recovery tool version called the HP cloud recovery client.
This is the version of the tool you should be using:

Thanks so much Paul. I didn't realize there was a seperate recovery tool for business products. Thsis is the first non consumer product I've purcased, and did so realizing many of the consumer laptops, like the 2in1 I'm replacing, weren't supported, even with the consumer tool. I'll try the business version and check out the instructions. Will post once the deed is done, and I find my way back here after the W10 install. Thanks again and 🤞.

You're very welcome.
Most consumer PC's are supported by the Cloud recovery tool, but they had to be made in late 2016 and beyond and had come with W10/W11.
There are a few models made during that time period that weren't supported, but that is unusual.

I've created the Win10 Pro recovery thumb drive and am wondering if I should download all the drivers that seemappropriate and place them on the thumb drive for easy access. Seems like that might be the easy way to get thngs right once the OS is up and running.
That said, after a couple days of Win11, I'm getting used to it and finding my way around with not too much difficulty. Think I'll give it a few more days and before I make the decision to do the hard switch. The only PC that really needs to stay on Win10 is my wife's desktop, that's too old. No way I'll start a discussion regarding changing her "daily driver". She'd have a snit fit..🤐
