The automatic update of Windows 10 to level 2004 does not work, and fails with the message attached.
I believe the error code is Error 0xc1900209
The same error happens when trying to install Windows 10 level 20H2. At 25% installation progress, it makes a check and this check fails.
The check asks to upgrade the BIOS, but HP Support assistant tells the Bios is at the latest level already.
Is there any detailed error report I can look into?
Thanks a lot for any suggestion
xg

Please try the following suggestions from Microsoft
Worse case, please re-install Windows 10 using
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
to create ISO file then mount ISO file as DVD drive and run Setup from there
. You need to tick to the option to keep all user files and programs. The tick is there by default but please check it to be sure.
Regards.

Hello BH, thanks a lot for your attention, it is very appreciated.
Error code 0xc1900209 seem to be fairly common, and querying it on the web returns a lot of results. These seem to be related to
- software that disturbs the automatic update (various procedures to spot which one)
- windows update system having something corrupt
- driver for some HW not being ready with windows preventing the update to avoid damage
Regarding the links you send, one is from 2018, and update 2004 did not exist (I have updated up to 1907) and the other I had seen, but it is reporting another error "your configuration ... not yet supported" whereas my message is "needs a BIOS upgrade". I would like to search if there is knowledge of this more precise case before proceeding.
Regarding a system reinstall, probably it is a solution, but I am not yet that desperate, as the system is working.
Best greetings, and have a great day, xg

Hello xgiannak
firts of all you have to update the BIOS before to update to 2004 and also before to install 2004, this is needed if the BIOS of you 755 G5 is older then 01.10.03 Rev.A
here latest BIOS version
01.15.00 Rev.A |
: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112001-112500/sp112439.exe
here the explanation about why you need to have at least version 01.10.03 Rev.A:
Fixes an issue where the system stops functioning (hangs) while installing or updating the operating system to Windows 10 20H1.
- Fixes an issue where the system stops functioning (hangs) while Microsoft update KB4524244 is being installed.
NOTE: Install this BIOS update before installing Windows 10 20H1.
sono stato abbastanza chiaro ?
